At Gaddesby Primary School safeguarding children is at the heart of everything we do. We are passionate about providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all children in our school.
Our safeguarding responsibilities include but are not limited to the following
- creating a safe environment for children and young people through robust safeguarding practices;
- ensuring that adults who work in school, including volunteers, are able to work with children safely, and are properly trained and equipped to do so;
- teaching children and young people to stay safe; and
- maintaining an environment in which children feel confident to approach any member of staff if they have a worry or problem.

The school also has two deputy DSLs Miss Annalee Toon and Mrs Kate Benney
DSLs are trained in dealing with child abuse and safeguarding children.

Gaddesby Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
Our school is part of a project that is run between Leicestershire Local Authority, schools and Leicestershire Police. The project is called Operation Encompass and has been designed to provide early reporting of any domestic abuse incidents that occur outside school, which might have an impact on a child in school.

First Response Children’s Duty Team 0116 305 0005 (24-hour phone line)
Phone 999 if a crime is being committed or if a child is in danger
Contact Leicestershire police on 101 if you think a crime has been committed but there is no immediate danger.
