We offer a rich and diverse curriculum at Gaddesby Primary School. Our curriculum is designed to meet and ensure our children meet our school aims. Our curriculum is fully embedded and is taught through a range of enjoyable topics taking place across all year groups.
We ensure all of the children have a rich and broad curriculum, which is centred on developing and acquiring new knowledge and skills through a variety of subjects, such as; Science, Geography, History, Design and Technology, Art, PE, RE and PSHE.
The name of the phonics scheme that we use in EYFS and Year 1 is Twinkl Phonics which we adapt slightly to meet the needs of our pupils. All classes have five lessons of Maths and English each week, as well as reading lessons on daily basis. Our afternoons are organised into topic areas which are usually focussed on either History or Geography. Other subjects are woven into this where appropriate. If not, they are taught through a standalone approach. We teach 4 larger topics throughout the school year.
The curriculum is enhanced further through residential trips in Years 2, 4 and 6. These trips give the children valuable learning experiences that can’t be replicated on site at school. In addition to residential trips, we offer an extensive range of day visits to places of interest throughout each year. These trips may include places such as; The National Space Centre, Cadbury’s World, Warwick Castle and New Walk Museum but can also include trips into the village of Gaddesby to ensure that our children know the richness of the area around them.
Please find Gaddesby Primary Schools curriculum statement here.
Each of our subjects has a coherently structured curriculum that runs from EYFS all the way to Year 6. It is taught on a two year rolling programme.
